Idaho: A Moment in Time
My newest photography project follows in the footsteps of photographers Berenice Abbott and Eugene Atget. What they did for the cities of New York and Paris in the early 1900s, I will do for the beautiful state of Idaho.
ARCHITECTURE | CITYSCAPES | LANDSCAPES | NATURE
This project is supported by a grant from the Alexa Rose Foundation to purchase two professional-grade lenses (ultra wide angle and mid-range zoom).
ARTIST STATEMENT
My newest photography project titled Idaho—A Moment in Time follows in the footsteps of photographers Berenice Abbott and Eugene Atget. What they did for the cities of New York and Paris in the early 1900s, I will do for the beautiful state of Idaho. I will create a collection of 70 to 80 photographs documenting Idaho as it is now, before it sees more expansion.
As Idaho leads the country in population growth, welcoming approximately 53,000 new residents from 2020 to 2021, I believe that now is the time to freeze this moment through a collection of photographs that tell the story of Idaho as it is now. I will also feature evidence of our past: historic homesteads, majestic mountains, and fertile farmland.
Over the next year, I will be traveling around the state looking for architecture, cityscapes, and landscapes that tell the story of that region, whether it be agricultural or metropolitan. Each region has a story to tell, and I am making it my mission to tell that story through photography.
We live in a one-of-a-kind state and I consider it an honor to have the opportunity to tell its story through professional-quality photographic images.
